French Minister of Ecology Segolene Royal makes a trip to Southern Africa in preamble of COP21, as emissary of the French government. The Minister for Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy will visit Southern Africa, Namibia, Zambia, Botswana, Tanzania, and West Africa in Ghana.

On the occasion of her participation in the Conference of Ministers of Environment of Southern Africa, Segolene Royal done, at four months of the COP21, displacement in Southern Africa as an emissary of the French government. In this region, the latest official visits by a French Minister often date back more 10 years.
Segolene Royal will visit the achievements of these countries to succeed the challenge of climate change and bring their voices to get an ambitious agreement for COP21.
"Your country has a voice to be heard in the fight against climate change, both for adapting to its impacts already visible, as for mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions. France will have at heart, assuming the presidency of the COP21, to take into account your concerns to the agreement. These countries have all the assets to produce renewable energy (solar, hydro, wind and geothermal energy with a goal of energy self-sufficiency) and enhance biodiversity (eg natural protected areas cover 18% of the territory of Botswana).Â
